HOW TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

UKWC UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, the UK Woman’s Club members work diligently to raise funds to provide tuition scholarships for undergraduate students.  Consideration is given to non-traditional students with unmet financial needs. Over the years, over $800,000 has been awarded to 235 scholarship recipients.  The scholarship amount and the number of awards each year is contingent on funds available. UKWC members are not eligible for these scholarship awards.

Completed applications must be received at UK Woman's Club Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 22172, Lexington, KY  40522 or submitted via email to ukwcmembers@gmail.com by March 15, 2024. Prior to applying, submit a Free Application for Federal Application for Student Financial Aid (FASFA) by Feb 15, 2024. To be considered for UKWC Scholarships, finalists must participate in an interview with the UKWC Scholarship Committee.

For the 2022-2023 financial year a total of $43,750 was awarded to four UK undergraduate students.

Comments from our 2022-2023 recipients:

“At age 41, I am excited about writing this new chapter in my life as a future nurse.  After all these years, my tenacity, passion and willpower led me to follow my dreams.  These characteristics kept me laser-focused with the intent of getting into a top nursing school one day….so here I am at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.  Go Cats”

“I will be the first to admit parts of my life have been turbulent, but it has made me the person I am today.  I am a strong woman who wants to raise the voices of those who have been silenced, represent them and build them up.  I am passionate about vernacular architecture and how these materials can be applied in new ways that not only reduce carbon footprint, but also act as a system that improves its surroundings.”

“I am a 41-year-old mother, wife, employee and student.  I enrolled at the University of Kentucky in January 2022 and am looking forward to becoming a Victim’s Advocate after graduating with a degree in Social Work.  I look forward to having the opportunity to support families and victims who need support in some of the most challenging times of their lives.”

“Being a student in the Middle Level Education Program at the University of Kentucky has been the most rewarding

and life changing experience. As a non-traditional student I discovered my passion for education later in life and am

one year away from graduating and realizing my dream of becoming a middle school Language Arts teacher. The

scholarship from UKWC has made it possible for me to continue to pursue my dreams and will allow me to focus

more of my time and attention in the classroom.  Words truly cannot express my gratitude to UKWC and all of its members, I will continue to spread your kindness and generosity for years to come through my teaching, Thank you all.
